Anchoring to Your Heartspace in 2019

Starting Over…in the middle of Winter?

Like many, I choose a phrase to anchor myself to at the start of the year, knowing I may outgrow it at some point and that’s ok. We all have the flexibility and opportunity to create limitless iterations of ourselves at any point in time.

I so appreciate the energy of hope and change that builds up at this time each year! While it feels a little misplaced to be rising up just a few weeks into a season best suited for curling up, there’s no denying the collective energy swirling around the start of a new year.

Thinking vs Feeling

Coming off a Christmas that offered me many opportunities to stay teachable and see challenges as invitations to grow further into my higher self, I immediately thought of the phrase

“I invite the teacher in”

It felt quiet, solemn, and like something that would give me the opportunity to grow and learn and stretch.

Then I remembered I’d put together a short exercise a few years back to help clients (and myself) discover a phrase that could connect them to heart’s center in every moment. I pulled it up, scribbled the first responses that bubbled up for me, and in about five minutes I had a phrase that spoke from my heart, resonated through my entire body, and echoed back into my heart space in a way that moved me – literally.

“Power. Purpose. Possibilities.”

Repeating this aloud, I stood upright, shoulders back, spine lengthened. I had a visceral response in my body because this message came from the wisdom of my body. Unlike my initial phrase, which came from a zoomed in view of a current situation, these words were a big picture, higher perspective, phrase to guide my days. The former is certainly something I will hold onto. The latter is absolutely how my heart wants me to live.

I will own my power.

I will live with purpose, on purpose.

I will be an example of what is possible, and the possibilities are limitless.
